I find it difficult to determine the genre of this work. In size - a story, in meaning - ... I don't know. This is a completely different story, which one day itself was born in me, and imperiously demanded: "express me."
I won't write a word about the content. This is impossible - any annotation will kill the mysterious atmosphere of the world where the action takes place. I can only say one thing - read from the beginning. Don't look to the end.

Fantasy is always attractive. It's so wonderful to enter a waterfall of fantasy, to visit lands where gravity does not interfere with flying, and words have the power of a powerful power plant... Only most of the authors writing about such worlds fill their creations with blood and pain. They turn the world of a fairy tale into a world of death, and woe to all who do not look like a person, if they had the misfortune to be born...
The story "Cursed by happiness" tells about two worlds separated by an insurmountable Boundary. A rock that is hated on both sides - what does it carry? Happiness or captivity? Is it possible to destroy the line between fairy tale and reality?
Is it necessary?..

One of my most successful things. Winner of the "Murchat" competition, winner of the Moscow KLF competition course, "... and there was light" - a dynamic fantasy thriller about a detective investigating the mysterious murder of a secret service officer. The story has a lot of action and a highly twisted detective story with an unexpected ending. Solid science fiction in the spirit of Asimov.

A very successful story, and one of the very few of my works where there is not a single dragon :) It tells about an amazing world in which it is impossible to live in one place, since winter brings cosmic cold with it, and all residents are constantly forced, century after century, run away from death.

My darkest fantasy tale is about a dreamer who meets reality. Or about reality meeting a dreamer. Or about the unreality that dreamed of becoming a reality... One way or another, the dreams did not come true. None.
This is a sad story, although at first it may seem otherwise. I consider Beauty and the Beast to be my success, but I don't think I'll ever read it again. Too much ... She came out close to reality.

This is not a typo or an error. It's Dragons and Dungeons. Probably many Fantasy fans know about the famous TSR series known as AD&D.
This abbreviation stands for Advanced Dungeons & Dragons. There are several different "worlds" in the series, such as "RavenLoft", "The Dark Sun", "Forgotten Realms" and, of course, "DragonLance".
I believe that all self-respecting connoisseurs of science fiction have heard of this famous cycle. "DragonLance"- a classic of heroic fantasy - was created in the early 80s by a well-known company of role-playing and board games TSR Inc..
At the moment, the series has over 115 works and no less number of computer games. Only 13 books were published in Russian.
The first, and so far the best novels of the cycle - a trilogy "Saga of the Spear". Often (and incorrectly) the entire cycle is called by this name. The trilogy consists of novels "Dragons of Autumn Twilight", "Winter night dragons" And "Spring Dawn Dragons". They have an unbroken storyline - the adventures of a group of heroes led by Tanis Half-elf, and their fight against the goddess of Evil.
The novels were created by Tracey Hickman and Margaret Weiss in the first half of the 80s. Later, they also wrote the fourth book, which received the name "Summer afternoon dragons", and also published in Russian. However, most fans of the series (including me) were unhappy with the new novel. By all accounts, it is far inferior to the original trilogy.

Why am I giving all these details? It’s just that the book that you intend to read (or don’t intend to, or have already read :) ) is a continuation (or rather, an alternative development) of the trilogy "Saga of the Spear".
In order to preserve the copyright of the company TSR, the planet where the action takes place was named Rynn (instead of Krynn). However, all geographical points, heroes and historical events are left intact.
The plot begins at the end of the novelSpring Dawn Dragons". I allowed myself to create an "alternative" version of the development of subsequent events. The book is as close to the original as possible, and the only "mistake" I made was Kitiara's daughter Ut'Motar. (In the original, she gave birth to a son).

To complete the picture, I will give the names of the books, the events of which are somehow affected in this novel.

Note to those who have already read my other books: this novel has nothing to do with the Dictators series, despite some familiar names.

It just so happened that since the appearance of the 5th part of the game "Heroes of Might and Magic", I wanted to make a big, complex RPG campaign for her. All summer I was preparing, writing a script, making a couple of mods - in general, I was waiting for a map editor. When the editor finally appeared, I realized that I could not embody even the shares of It's too inconvenient, and the plot I conceived is too complicated to implement.
I did not want to lose a carefully thought-out plot and carefully developed characters, and as a result I wrote a novel about "Heroes of might and magic". It's not very large (200kb of pure text), but I hope it's interesting. However, it's better for you to judge.

I am proud to present to the reader's judgment the fruit of a long and hard work, the first volume of a new novel from the All-Season Interceptor Dragons series. This name, as you might guess, hints at a direct connection between the books and the well-known to every fantasy fan "Demi-seasonal dragons", or simply - DragonLance.
The first book is called "Winged class hero", and tells the story of a group of heroes who are given the chance to rewrite the cruel history of the planet Krynn by fate and their own iron will. The novel is a fast paced fantasy adventure full of action and unexpected plot twists. Although she talks about Krynn, a mandatory familiarity with the original trilogy "The Saga of the Spear" by M. Weiss and T. Hickman is not required.

The sci-fi story "Goldfish" tells the story of a lonely, long-forgotten pet who is ready to do anything to find love again. Will he be able to catch up with his dream? Soar to the sky, against fate and gravity?

"In the Animal World" is a sci-fi story about dragons, the action takes place in the same world that was described in the story "Goldfish", only 12 thousand years later.

... The black dragon left the village before dawn, so as not to disturb his friends in vain. Only Galya accompanied him. They stood for a long time, embracing, there was nothing to talk about. So, silently, and parted. Already at a height, picking up speed and ripping the night air with sparkling wings, the Wind thought that Galya must be as bad now as he was when Carmine flew away.
The eastern horizon slowly filled with fire. There, across the ocean, the dawn filled the world with a furious explosion of colors, but here, for the time being, exquisite night reigned. The sky under her brush sparkled with such a wealth of shades of blue that the day, ashamed of its own mediocrity, was in no hurry to destroy someone else's picture. From a great height, where the Wind soared, a striking spectacle, unknown to the wingless, opened up - when both the stars and the dark purple Sun shine in the sky at the same time.
The dragon flew north. For many years, Carmine, and with his departure, the Wind itself, warned the winged ones against returning to the shores of the Inner Sea. There, once upon a time, there was a tragedy that none of the dragons remembered, but whose legacy has firmly entered their quiet life. Even today, as an adult, the Wind was afraid of the north and never flew to the Forbidden Mountains, which cut off the ominous sea from the rest of the mainland.

The airlock doors opened with a barely audible hiss, the atmospheric pressure here was too low. Talisa came out first. Leaping onto the sun-hot stones, she took a few steps towards the darkening distance, almost completely destroyed inner castle.
"You asked why dragons don't like to remember these ruins," she said in a low voice. - I can tell you a story. Believe it or not - it's up to you.
The alien approached, his suit shining unbearably in the sun.
- I'm all attention, - the translator buzzed lifelessly on the radio.
The dragoness slowly walked towards the ruined building, the alien walking beside her.
“There is a legend that many thousands of years ago, we lived in a completely different world,” Talisa began. “Not on another planet, but in another world. Are you familiar with brane theory?
-Of course.
-Then you should know about the Multiverse predicted by this theory, an infinite series of virtual "membranes", that is, Universes that differ only in tiny fluctuations of world constants.
-I know.
Talisa was silent. The dark brown stone slabs under her paws were covered with a fine network of cracks, but on the whole, erosion did not touch them much.
-According to legend, somewhere here, - she circled the ruins with her wing, - our "membrane" touches the neighboring one. Although such words, of course, had not yet been invented in those days. Ancestors said "Gate of the Worlds".
The tip of the silver dragon's tail twitched nervously.
-The world we used to live in was inhabited by more than just dragons. And one of the unknown races began to exterminate the rest. According to the legends, we fought to the last warrior, but the hour came when only a few women and a bunch of frightened children remained of the dragon race.
She lowered her head.
Sources differ on what happened next. The Kauran epic claims that a half-bird, half-lion, entwined with lightning, descended from the sky and opened the Gates to a new world for a handful of survivors, - Talisa nodded at the mountain range in the distance. - This hypothesis received strong support after the discovery of griffins on Ayatta, but there are too many ambiguities in it. A completely different explanation is given by a stele found in the Land of Dense Herbs; it is over twelve thousand years old, which is an absolute record; more ancient monuments of dragon writing are not yet known.
The winged one twitched its tail.
- The deciphered claw says that about seven thousand years before the creation of the stele, a “stone pillar” collapsed to our planet, from which cruel “sons of the stars” appeared. They brought us dragons in cages, like animals - it is not entirely clear from the text for what purpose, either for devouring, or for fighting in arenas. Another thing is surprising: both on the stele and in the Kauran epic, which is at least three millennia younger, the subsequent events are spoken about in the same way...
Talisa gritted her teeth.
-From a neighboring world, or from an ancient starship, but the enemy followed us to a new home. This fortress we call Kagg was built by them. From here, punitive detachments were sent to hunt for dragons trembling in the forests and caves, and the bodies of the dead were brought here.
The dragon stopped. The alien froze nearby.
"Thousands of bodies," Talisa said quietly. - Already in modern times, when excavations began here ... We ... You see, dragons have only one absolute law, dominating all of us from hatching, so absorbed into the blood that we simply cannot imagine its absence. Dragons don't kill dragons. It is the foundation of our culture, the cornerstone of our thinking.
She swallowed.
-The cemetery discovered in the ruins of Kagg literally turned inside out everything that is sacred to us. Not only bronze chains and the remains of cages were found here, but even decorative items made of dragon bone, can you imagine? Talisa shuddered. “Civilization was shocked. We have never thought before that for creatures of a different biological species, atrocities that are absolutely unimaginable to a dragon may seem quite normal ...
The alien raised his finger in a gesture of attention.
-Question.
-I'm listening.

First of all, the presence in heliocentric orbits of a whole swarm of extremely powerful laser batteries, including Sol-1 with a flash energy sufficient to evaporate the planets. Talisa smiled weakly.
-You're right. The main purpose of the satellites is, of course, the control of asteroids, but in reality, how to explain ... - she sighed. - ... in general, we are so calmer.
The stranger crossed his arms over his chest.
- Allow me to extrapolate thought? I believe the series of interstellar probes you sent out in the last century had a dual purpose. You want to find the planet where the "stone pillar" was launched from, am I right?
Talisa stopped. She was silent for so long that the alien stepped forward:

The absence of repeated contacts for almost twenty thousand years is already capable of telling a lot about the fate of the mysterious "sons of the stars." We are much more concerned about the brothers and sisters left there. I remember you said that the word "Motherland" does not necessarily mean a location in space; Well, in this case, by Motherland we mean a specific place. The place where, according to the legends, our family originated. A place where the winged can still languish in cages.
Talisa turned abruptly to the stranger.
“And I really, with all my heart hope that you are not from there,” she said measuredly.

...Beyond the pass, the orc path turned east, and I had to leave the well-trodden path. There was no need to worry about the condition of the road here, so I picked up the pace and rushed at full speed, breaking huge stones with my jumps, rushing over the gorges like black lightning. In such - rather rare - minutes, I recalled stories about ancient wars, when my ancestors soared up to the clouds, accelerating over the rocks, and clawed winged enemies right in their own element. Honestly, it was hard to believe; Well, what kind of bumpkin do you need to hatch, so as not to be able to dodge a multi-ton black carcass rushing from afar? I don't even try to catch birds...
