The novel is structured so that no "fantastic assumptions" are required; I wanted to conduct an experiment on how the appearance of a thinking beast in a real modern society could actually look like, how this could be explained, and what it would lead to. He took into account every conceivable little thing, studied all the issues for weeks and months, consulted with the military and specialists. All the objects, events, real people, equipment, even addresses and individual buildings mentioned in the book exist in reality. According to an officer of a real missile base, everything is described in the book exactly, especially sensitive secret objects.
