The unique and wonderful game Drakan at one time became the world's first dragon flight simulator (DragonStrike does not count for EGA). The wise red dragon Arokh and his partner, the powerful girl Riin :), fought Evil in search of the Rune Blade. It was almost the only game where dragons were not considered "monsters" and an object of hunting ...
Unfortunately, the second part of the game (it was released recently) was created for the Sony Playstation II gaming system. Thus, thousands of fans of Drakan for PC were left with nothing.
Not wanting to put up with this state of affairs, and also having lost all hope of ever seeing a game with a dragon in the title role, Andrey Glazunov (Dragon Rider) decided to remake the original Drakan, turning the girl Riin into the dragon Tiamat. 🙂 Andrey made a model, I drew textures. Unfortunately, it is still problematic to change levels, so at the first stage you will have to play the usual Drakan: only as a dragon, not as a person.
The biggest disadvantage of our modification is the complexity of its installation. Due to problems with the speed of the Internet, as well as for copyright reasons, we cannot distribute the modification directly as part of the game, since few people will download 245 megabytes. 🙁

If you already have a disk with Drakan, and you want to play as a young emerald dragon, carefully read the installation instructions. So what you need:

1) Disc with any version of Drakan, preferably original.
2) Surreal Editor.
3) Dragon model and textures. They can be downloaded by clicking the button below.


Now step by step instructions.

1) Install Surreal Editor. Before running it, check for the existence of the system.lst file in the CommonSystem directory (inside the directory where Drakan is installed). If there is such a file - ERASE IT. Now you can start the editor.
2) Download almost any level like Mountain WorldRuined VillageRuined Village.lvl
3) Open the database window: Window --> Databases
4) Select System from the drop down box.
5) Switch to the Models tab
6) Expand the tree (+) and check the entry Rynn --> Single player --> leather armor(h)
7) Right click on the selected entry and select Build --> Model --> Replace
8) In the file selection window, select the dragon_71nopaths.rec file from the directory where you unpacked the "Tiamat.zip" archive
9) Make sure that in the lower left corner of the file selection window there is a checkbox Auto Load Alpha textures
10) Open Open. If a message appears that animations cannot be loaded, exit the editor and delete the system.lst file from the CommonSystem directory. Then repeat everything from step 2.
11) From the main menu, select File --> Save All. Answer Yes to any questions.
12) Remove the system.lst file again from the CommonSystem directory (inside the directory where Drakan is installed), otherwise the next time you start the editor you will get an error message.

Drakan will now launch with the built-in Tiamat mod when launching New Game or any level. But no armor can be used in the game, because in this case the textures change and Tiamat will turn into Riin again. However, you can replace other armor options - just choose not Rynn --> Single player --> leather armor(h), but the corresponding item.
